چکیده
the association of rs10818488 snp located in traf1/c5 region with rheumatoid arthritis (ra), has been picked up by genome-wide association studies. independent studies in different populations revealed inconsistent results. the aim of this study was to investigate the possible association of this snp with ra in iranian population. a total of 362 cases and 422 healthy controls were recruited in this study. genomic dna was extracted from whole blood and the genotyping was performed by pcr-rflp (polymerase chain reaction– estriction fragment length polymorphism). a set of genotypes was confirmed by sequencing. genotype and allele frequencies were compared between the case and control groups. analysis indicated a higher frequency of a allele in cases, although the difference was not statistically significant (chi-square=2.8, p=0.09). comparison of genotype frequencies, revealed higher frequencies of aa and ag genotypes in case group but statistically the difference was not significant (chi-square=2.72, p=0.25). these findings suggest that the rs10818488 in traf1/c5 region is not associated with rheumatoid arthritis in iranian population.

single nucleotide polymorphism rs 2476601 of ptpn22 gene and susceptibility to rheumatoid arthritis in iranian population
the rs2476601 (r620w, c1858t) polymorphism in ptpn22 gene has been repeatedly reported to be associated with rheumatoid arthritis (ra). the rs 2476601 is widely suggested for predictive testing and risk assessment for ra. the aim of this study was to test the possible association of this snp with ra in iranian population.a total of 872 samples (405 confirmed ra patients and 467 healthy controls...
متن کاملLack of Association between PTPN22 (+1858 C>T) rs2476601 polymorphism and susceptibility to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in Northeast of Iran
Background and objectives: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease with a complex genetic background. The protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor type 22 (PTPN22) is a lymphoid specific protein tyrosine phosphatase which is involved in negative regulation of T cell response. Several studies have assessed the association between PTPN22 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with RA ...

Lack of association between coding region of KCNE2 gene and the congenital long QT syndrome in an Iranian population
Introduction: Congenital long QT syndrome (LQTS) is a cardiac disorder characterized by QT interval prolongation at basal ECG. Different LQTS genes encode ion channel subunits or proteins involved in regulating cardiac ionic currents. Long QT syndrome type 6 (LQT6) is caused by mutation in the KCNE2 gene. Our research aimed to analyze genetic variants of KCNE2 gene causing the disease in Irania...
متن کاملlack of association between the c677t single nucleotide polymorphism of the mthfr gene and glaucoma in iranian patients
glaucoma is a major cause of blindness worldwide. a single nucleotide polymorphism of the mthfr gene (c677t) has been associated with susceptibility to this disease, although this is controversial in the last decade. in this study, the possible association between the mthfr c677t polymorphism and the risk of developing primary open angle (poag) and pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (pexg) was investig...
متن کاملLack of Association between Interleukin 23R (IL-23R) rs10889677 Polymorphism and Inflammatory Bowel Disease Susceptibility In an Iranian Population
Background: Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs), which include ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD), are inflammatory disorders that affect the gastrointestinal tract. A combination of inflammatory cytokines has an important role in IBD development. Genome-wide association studies have shown that polymorphisms in the interleukin-23R gene (IL-23R) increase susceptibility to IBD....
